Construction formally began in October on a 100-story tower capable of withstanding 100 mph winds that will be Miami’s first supertall. When finished, the Waldorf-Astoria residential tower will give the appearance of stacked glass cubes, offering 205 hotel rooms and 360 condos, and will feature the city’s first tuned mass damper to reduce sway and help the tower withstand hurricane-force winds.
