SWISS prepares to lift Covid crisis response measures

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced is preparing to gradually lift its Covid-19 crisis response measures from 1 January 2023, ahead of its intended timeline. The early lifting has been enabled by restructuring measures initiated in 2021 that have stabilised the airline’s financial position and the positive trend in demand for air travel. While travel volumes are still not at their pre-pandemic levels, SWISS says that a positive trend can clearly be seen, partly driven by pent-up demand following a period of travel restrictions.

“Two years of short-time working, crisis response agreements and restructuring combined with highly challenging flight operations have made huge demands on all our employees,” stated SWISS’s CEO, Dieter Vranckx. “In view of this, and of the gradual recovery in the desire for air travel, we feel it is right to start gradually lifting the crisis response measures that were agreed in Switzerland, from the beginning of next year.”
