Syrianair (RB, Damascus) and Cham Wings Airlines (SAW, Damascus) resumed scheduled international operations on January 7, 2025, with both airlines operating flights from Damascus to Sharjah. Cham Wings also reinstated domestic services with a flight between Damascus and Aleppo later that day.

Syrianair deployed its A320-200, YK-AKG (msn 1402), for the Sharjah route. The aircraft had been parked at Damascus since December 7, 2024, following the political upheaval that led to the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad. On January 8, YK-AKG was further utilized for a flight to Doha Hamad International, according to Flightradar24 ADS-B data. Another A320-200, YK-AKH (msn 1416), which trialed a domestic Damascus-Aleppo route in December, remains inactive along with six additional A320-200s and two A340-300s.

Privately owned Cham Wings Airlines resumed operations with A320-200 YK-BAA (msn 2434) on the Sharjah route. The airline also deployed YK-BAE (msn 322) for a domestic evening rotation to Aleppo. The remaining three A320s in Cham Wings’ fleet are yet to return to service.

Qatar Airways also resumed operations to Damascus on January 7, restoring its link to Syria after 13 years. The inaugural flight from Doha utilized an A330-200, A7-ACM (msn 849).

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines has expressed intentions to restart flights to Damascus and Aleppo but has not confirmed a specific date for the relaunch. These developments signal a gradual recovery of Syria’s aviation sector.
