Many people will look to travel to find romance this upcoming Valentine’s Day. So where are they headed? Allianz Partners recently reviewed travel plans for roundtrip flights for two passengers departing from U.S. destinations February 3-7 and returning February 10-15, 2022. While the majority of Americans (81 percent) will travel domestically this holiday, travelers have targeted a variety of places. Here’s a look at the 10 most popular U.S. and international destinations for Valentine’s Day travel in 2022.

10. Los Angeles, California
One of the top five most coveted destinations this past holiday season, Los Angeles rounds out the list of the top 10 domestic cities for Valentine’s Day travel in 2022. The city is sure to be buzzing in mid-February after playing host to Super Bowl LVI on February 13.

9. New York, New York
Americans’ number one holiday destination has lost a bit of momentum ahead of Valentine’s Day. New York City is also in the minority of cold-weather destinations in the top 10 this year. Nonetheless, travelers are still very much interested in the Big Apple, which presents numerous opportunities for romance.

8. Tampa, Florida
Tampa is one of five Florida cities to rank among the top 10 most popular domestic destinations for Valentine’s Day in 2022. That shouldn’t come as a major surprise, however, as the Gulf Coast locale boasts an average February high temperature of 74 degrees in addition to access to world-class beaches and other attractions.

Salt Lake City doesn’t offer Valentine’s Day travelers the same balmy temperatures as Tampa but it does provide romance in bunches, from the surrounding snow-covered ski slopes to the charming parks and walkable attractions like Temple Square.

Southwest Florida is heating up this February, both literally and figuratively, as Fort Myers ranks as the sixth-most popular Valentine’s Day destination in the U.S. for 2022. The desert is also alluring this time of year, with Phoenix cracking the top five for most coveted domestic cities for Valentine’s Day travel. The Caribbean is undoubtedly the most sought-after region when it comes to international travel this Valentine’s Day and the islands of Turks and Caicos are high on lovebirds’ lists. The destination has fully vaccinated as much as 80 percent of its population and recently updated entry requirements and COVID-19 protocols.

9. Liberia, Costa Rica
Easily one of the more surprising entries in the top 10, Liberia is drawing Valentine’s Day travelers to Central America on the strength of its diverse offerings, which include historic buildings and cultural experiences as well as easy access to remarkable beaches and adventure, whether ziplining through the rainforest or exploring breathtaking waterfalls.
