Tigerair Taiwan has announced a record-breaking year-end bonus for its employees, with an average payout equivalent to up to 12.5 months’ worth of salary. This performance-based bonus will be distributed during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday on January 29, 2025, marking the highest average year-end bonus in the airline’s history.

In 2024, the low-cost carrier provided its staff with an average bonus of 10.8 months’ pay for their performance over the previous year. This significant increase to 12.5 months’ salary for 2025 underlines Tigerair Taiwan’s commitment to rewarding its workforce for their dedicated efforts during 2024. Local news outlet Focus Taiwan reported that some employees could receive bonuses as high as 17.4 months’ pay, demonstrating the company’s willingness to share its success with those who helped drive its results.

Tigerair Taiwan emphasized that the bonus reflects the hard work and achievements of all employees throughout the year. Beyond the performance incentives, the carrier has also announced an operating profit-sharing initiative, further strengthening the bond between the company’s success and its staff’s rewards.

In addition to the generous year-end bonus, Tigerair Taiwan has revealed plans to implement a fixed monthly salary increase for all employees, with an additional NT$3,000 (approximately US$90.99) raise each month. This move translates to an overall average salary increase of around 4% for 2025, underscoring the airline’s resolve to maintain competitive compensation and boost employee morale as it navigates a challenging market landscape.

The decision to increase bonuses and wages comes at a time when airlines in Taiwan are taking steps to attract and retain top talent amid fierce industry competition. For example, Taiwanese flag carrier China Airlines recently announced a year-end bonus worth 6.6 months’ salary, while staff from other carriers received varied benefits: EVA Air is set to offer a bonus equivalent to six months’ pay along with a 3.5% wage increase, and STARLUX has planned a two-month bonus with a 5% salary boost.

By setting a new record with an average bonus of 12.5 months’ salary, Tigerair Taiwan is not only affirming its commitment to its employees but also positioning itself as an attractive employer in the competitive aviation industry. This move is expected to enhance job satisfaction, boost morale, and improve overall workforce retention, which are key factors for success in the fast-paced aviation market.

The airline’s decision to share operating profits with its employees reflects a wider trend in the industry. Many carriers are taking steps to ensure that staff directly benefit from the company’s improved financial performance, especially as airlines continue to recover from various economic challenges.

As Tigerair Taiwan prepares for the festive season of the Lunar New Year, the record-setting bonuses and wage increases are sure to create positive buzz among employees and industry watchers alike. This comprehensive compensation package not only recognizes the hard work of the past year but also positions Tigerair Taiwan to remain competitive and attractive in an increasingly dynamic and challenging industry. With these enhancements, the airline is poised to build on its strong performance and further solidify its reputation as a leading low-cost carrier in Taiwan and the broader region.
