Torino Airport becomes a vaccination hub
In the remote terminal intended for snow tourists, four potentially doubling vaccination lines are activated to reach 1,000 vaccines per day
Caselle Torinese, April 19, 2021 – The new vaccination point at Torino Airport is operational as of today. Made in collaboration with the Local Health Authority A.S.L. TO4, the structure is housed at the Ski Terminal of Torino Airport.
The space is normally used to welcome skiers during the winter season: it is provided by SAGAT, the Torino Airport Management Company, and recognized by the Piedmont Region as particularly suitable for its structural characteristics – large size, suitable rooms, air conditioning and routes – and for accessibility. Four vaccine lines will be initially active for over 500 vaccines per day, potentially doubling based on the availability of vaccines, reaching a thousand citizens every day.
Torino Airport Ski Terminal had already hosted since August 2020 the Covid Test Point for carrying out the mandatory health checks of passengers arriving from abroad at the airport: this area has been converted into a vaccination point at the service of the local community of the Local Health Authority ASL TO4. The health and administrative staff is provided and managed by the ASL TO4.
“In this crucial moment to overcome the pandemic, we are all called to make a contribution to fighting against Covid-19 – said Elisabetta Oliveri, President of SAGAT -. Our company felt it was right to serve the community, using not only the infrastructure, but also our organizational skills. Vaccination is a fundamental step to return to travel with serenity”.
Andrea Andorno, Chief Executive Officer of SAGAT, added: “Vaccination is essential to be able, among other things, to return to travel with peace of mind for work, to meet friends and family, to discover the world. The place where vaccines are now managed, the Ski Terminal, is a symbol for us: until the outbreak of the pandemic it was crowded with skiers, ready to embark after a skiing holiday in our mountains. We look forward to welcoming them back to Piedmont and at the airport”.
For those arriving at Torino Airport vaccination point by car, the Long Term Parking is available free of charge, on the same level as the Ski Terminal. A fully covered pedestrian path without architectural barriers allows you to reach the hotspot in a few minutes.
Torino Airport vaccination point is open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday and access is reserved exclusively for people who have received the booking call from the Local Health Authority.
