Travel damage estimate: $1.1 trillion, 5.6 million jobs

The US travel industry last year lost $1.1 trillion in value, a plunge of 42%, according to a new study. Travel’s contribution to the economy dropped from $2.6 trillion to $1.5 trillion while related jobs fell by 5.6 million, comprising 65% of pandemic-linked unemployment, the US Travel Association and Tourism Economics report.
