The Transportation Security Administration has “significantly increased” security at DC-area airports, in addition to increasing the number of Federal Air Marshals on some flights along with additional measures ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration tomorrow. TSA is also processing hundreds of names with law enforcement agencies for a thorough risk assessment” in the wake of disturbances tied to protesters, the agency said, “to ensure those who may pose a threat to our aviation sector undergo enhanced screening or are prevented from boarding an aircraft.” Meanwhile, airlines confirmed that their lists of passengers banned for disruptive behavior or noncompliance with mask mandates grew significantly after the protests. In a memo to employees, and Delta CEO Ed Bastian threatened to permanently ban passengers “who refuse to display basic civility to our people or their fellow travelers.”
