Turkish Airlines, renowned for its culinary excellence in the skies, has taken its in-flight dining experience to new heights with the recent unveiling of its latest menus. This innovative move not only elevates onboard gastronomy but also reinforces the airline’s commitment to sustainability and local sourcing.

A Culinary Experience Above the Clouds: The airline, already celebrated for having the World’s Best Business Class Catering at the 2022 Skytrax World Airline Awards and winning Europe’s Best Food and Beverage Award from APEX, has now introduced a menu that could rival high-end Turkish restaurants. The dishes feature local and seasonal Turkish flavors, emphasizing freshness and authenticity.

What’s New on the Menu? Turkish Airlines’ new offerings include an array of dishes made with 80% fresh products grown in Turkey. Highlights range from homemade mezzelune pasta to hand-minced Adana kebab, complemented by desserts served with Afyon kaymak cream. The airline also offers detox drinks and alcohol-free cocktails, ensuring passengers land feeling rejuvenated.

Showcasing Local Flavors: The latest menu was showcased in a unique event in Istanbul, where chefs and flight attendants walked a different kind of runway, presenting these culinary creations. According to Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee for Turkish Airlines, the use of highly qualified chefs and local, daily-prepared fresh food is the secret behind their exceptional catering.

A Commitment to Sustainability: In line with its sustainable approach, Turkish Airlines supports local farmers, which is integral to the quality and taste of its dishes. Emre Gecgel, the airline’s Flying Chef Trainer, emphasizes the use of reusable materials like porcelain and stainless steel, and the incorporation of recycled and renewable sourced items. This approach aligns with the airline’s goal to reduce the environmental impact of in-flight dining, addressing the broader issue of cabin waste and food waste in the aviation industry.

An End to the ‘Chicken or Beef’ Era: With these new menus, Turkish Airlines is setting a new standard in airline catering, moving beyond the traditional ‘chicken or beef’ options. This move not only enhances the passenger experience but also reflects a growing trend in the airline industry to provide more innovative, high-quality, and sustainable meal options.

Turkish Airlines’ latest menu revamp is more than just an upgrade in in-flight dining; it’s a fusion of gastronomic delight, sustainability, and local pride, offering passengers a taste of Turkey’s rich culinary heritage while flying.
