United Airlines to launch new routes to Australia and New Zealand
United Airlines has announced an expansion of its network to include cities in Australia and New Zealand.
The airline will introduce new routes from Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport to Brisbane Airport, Auckland Airport, and Christchurch Airport starting from the end of 2023. The expansion will enable United Airlines to operate more flights between the United States, Australia, and New Zealand than any other US carrier.
The airline will increase its frequency on existing routes, including San Francisco to Brisbane, San Francisco to Sydney, and San Francisco to Auckland, as well as launch new routes such as Houston International Airport to Sydney and San Francisco to Christchurch.
United States and Australia have enjoyed a Free Trade Agreement since 2005, with almost doubled goods and services trade between the two countries in 2020. The US also welcomes a significant number of Australian tourists, and after the 2024 Summer Olympics, Brisbane will be the host city for the 2032 Summer Olympics.
