United gives crew members more flexibility to hold flights

United Airlines is doing away with “delay codes” that assign a reason for every flight delay, a move that will empower crew members to hold flights for connecting passengers without concern that they will be penalized. “By getting rid of delay codes, we want to give you the latitude to do the right thing based on the situation,” CEO Scott Kirby said.
