US airlines look toward summer travel, anticipate continued recovery

US airlines are planning domestic capacity for May equal to 76% of the schedules they flew in May 2019, with Florida and some mountain states receiving even more service than they did two years ago. However, international travel remains down dramatically compared to pre-pandemic levels, and many travel restrictions remain in place across the globe. Overall, the first Airline Business Index estimates that the aviation industry is still operating at just 58% of pre-pandemic levels.
