US airports aim to ease the stress of travel
Airport managers and designers are trying to bring a new measure of calm and fun to airports to relieve some of the stresses imposed by the response to 9/11 and, lately, the pandemic, writes Elaine Glusac. But the efforts have a long way to go by comparison with airports abroad providing much more pleasant travel accommodations while their US counterparts offer facilities with an average age of more than 40 years.
