Airlines praised the decision, announced by the Centers for Disease Control, to require travelers entering the US on international flights from Jan. 26 onward to present a negative coronavirus test, although they were also hoping the government would drop restrictions on travel from the UK, Brazil and Europe. “US airlines have been strong advocates for a national testing standard set by the federal government,” Airlines for America said, and United Airlines added: “As the first airline to offer COVID customer testing, we know it is key to unlocking international borders and safely reopening global travel.”
