Venerable Calif. hotel that booked stars goes on block

A near-century-old hotel between Los Angeles and San Francisco that has played host to such celebrities as Jack Benny, Bette Davis and Fred MacMurray is up for sale with an asking price of $12.25 million. The Carlton Hotel in downtown Atascadero was revived from vacancy in 1999 and reopened in 2005 after restoration.
