What’s one of the best sommeliers in the world drinking?
Pairing sparkling wine with fish, venison, desserts and other dishes is an area ripe for creative exploration, according to Marc Almert, head sommelier for the Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich, Switzerland, and winner of the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale’s Best Sommelier of the World title in 2019. Almert shares four other realms of the wine world currently drawing his attention, including South African grapes and wines made from fungus-resistant hybrid varieties.
