Why off-market deals appeal to buyers and sellers

Both buyers and sellers of commercial real estate are seeing value in off-market transactions, such as Apple Hospitality REIT’s recent $126 million acquisition of a three-asset portfolio. There are good reasons for both sides of the transaction to consider off-market deals, but as Marc Imrem of Transwestern notes, finding opportunities can be a challenge. “This is where relationships and communication become valuable,” Imrem says.
