Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s Record-Breaking Achievement in 2023: Doubling Flights and Enriching Tourism

In 2023, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a joint venture between ADQ and Wizz Air Holdings, marked a milestone year, demonstrating remarkable growth in its operations. The airline more than doubled its number of flights and passengers, with a staggering completion rate of 99.6%. Operating over 15,000 flights and carrying three million passengers, including 1.5 million point-to-point travelers to Abu Dhabi, the airline has been instrumental in promoting the Emirate’s culture and tourism.

These figures align with the goals of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, which aims to attract 24 million visitors in 2023. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s efforts contribute significantly to making the Emirate a year-round destination, offering a blend of exciting, inspiring, and restorative experiences. The airline’s initiatives are in sync with the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, bolstering the UAE’s reputation as a top global tourism destination.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s expanding network now includes 40 destinations across 27 countries, connecting Abu Dhabi to culturally rich cities and hidden-gem resorts. Recent expansions into Central Asia, North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe have diversified travel options, in line with the UAE’s socio-economic vision.

2023 also saw the airline’s fleet grow with the addition of four A321 aircraft, bringing the total to 12, and a 135% increase in seat capacity. With a 100% increase in headcount, the airline has also been a significant local employer. Their commitment to sustainable air travel is evident in their partnership with the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, promoting environmentally friendly practices.
