An accident involving an ATR 72-500 occurred in Nepal on 14 January, killing at least 68 people.

From footage of the incident, the ATR appeared to stall whilst on its way towards Pokhara’s new international airport which opened just this month. However, it should be noted that the exact cause of the accident will not be fully known until investigations are concluded. Both the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder have since been recovered from the wreckage.

According to FlightRadar24’s report, the flight stopped transmitting data seven minutes before the last set of data was received at 5:12 UTC.

Yeti Airlines has a fleet of six ATR 72-500s, and this particular ATR was delivered to the airline in 2019.

ATR released a statement on the crash, stating that its specialists “were fully engaged to support both the investigation and the customer”.
